In honor of Harper

On June 1, 2017, at 10-weeks old, Harper was diagnosed with infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the MLL gene rearrangement. With a 10% prognosis for survival, she was immediately admitted to our local Children's Hospital, began IV chemo treatment, and enrolled in a brand new LLS funded clinical trial that ultimately saved her life. After eight months in the hospital enduring intense treatment, lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirations, and more; then another 18 months of at-home oral medication, Harper rang her bell on July 18, 2019, signifying the end of treatment and remission status! Harper has never wavered since diagnosis, proving to be a strong and fierce little girl and now almost 5 years later remains in remission..

My Story

This September I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.

I will be riding to raise funds to support Children’s Cancer Research Fund. I am riding in honor of Lily. Her story is below.

6-year-old Lily has made a special sign to mark the day and to remind us of the importance of finding safer and more effective treatments for childhood cancer. 💛

This brave girl has finished her last cycle of chemotherapy, but she's still enduring side effects from the intense treatment. 😞

Unfortunately, one of Lily's medications, vincristine, may have caused a heart disorder known as tachycardia. 😥

This means Lily has to wear a 24-hour Holter monitor so her care team can assess the condition of her heart. 🫀

"I’m so happy that Lily finished her last dose of chemo, it’s such an amazing milestone. At the same time, I’m so frustrated that it’s impacted multiple organs like her pancreas, adrenal glands, skin, legs, brain, and now heart," her mom said.

We dedicate our movement to Lily and all the brave kids who have to fight the terrible impacts of cancer. ✊
